Creative Commons Reading

This week I read about Creative Commons which I thought was a great thing. Creative Commons basically has a copyright on peoples music, writing or art. There are many different types of copyrighting that can be done from people not being able to use anything having to do with your music, writing or art to companies being able to use it as long as they get credit for it. All I was thinking about when i first started reading this was my little sister: she is a very talented singer and writer, and I would hate for someone to steel the stuff she worked so hard to put together. I took a graphic design class two years ago in college and I remember my professor saying that we could not use a picture off the internet unless we manipulated it at least three times due to some sort of copyrighting. This amazed me because I didn't think that it was a big deal taking someones stuff. There are also a lot of people out there that steal music from things like Lymewire and it is against the rules, but they don't care.

Kevin Kelly Video

This video talked about how the web is less than 5,000 days old and asks the question; what do you think that the web will be like in 5,000 more days? I believe that anything is possible, but i don't see how a laptop can get any smaller than whats already out there. I think that computers will all be touch screen maybe like a large phone with a slide out keyboard. Some things that really caught my attention in this video was the fact that there are 10 billion clicks per day and 55 trillion links in the world. It's crazy to think about how much the internet has affected the world today. I see myself whenever a question is asked and I don't know the answer I always say "Google it". 5,000 days ago here is no way I would have thought we would come this far with computing now there are 2 million emails a second going over the web. Kevin Kelly describes the fact that the web works like a human brain for every part of the brain there is a part of the web that matches it. Another thing that I thought was funny is that he mentioned about the first fax machine, and whoever bought it was an idiot because obviously there was no one else to fax to.

Cloud Toward Success!

My cloud represents everything that i am working for. I have included my place of work right now, and this represents what I do for a living. Eventually I would like to save up the money that I make there and start my own business. Now this is where my cooking skills come in. I love cooking (mostly Italian food). I think that not only does cooking make me feel better, but it is also a coping mechanism. In order to have my own business I would also like to have a degree in business which is where my college (CCV) comes in. I am looking forward to knowing all about the business world so there will be a less chance of the business failing. Also along with all of these things I have had great passion in designing floor plans since I was a little girl. All of these point off from the one big picture -- Owning my own business!! I would love to have my own business where I could put all of my own recipes in to one location. I want to have an Italian restaurant.

Week One Blog!

My goals for this class are to learn more about the multimedia world and how it works. I am already into all of the technical parts due to my job as an Administrative System's Assistant, but there is much more to learn and be more in depth. My anxieties are the fact that I will have to get in front of a camera (I am very camera shy), also that people may not get my perspective on things, and as far as taking a tech course online it worries me because there will not be any hands on, but I think that I am pretty technically savvy.
I am taking two online classes this semester and they will both be my first online classes I have ever taken. I have been told that there is a lot more work for these classes, but I think I can handle it. Right now I am working full time at Keene Medical Products in the systems department. My roll at my job is to help with all the computer problems. I do data entry, help maintain all of the servers that we have, and also help with phones and internet. I have great knowledge with computers including Microsoft Office and devices in the background of a computer. I have rebuilt numerous that were either slow or had viruses, and I have also built a few computers from scratch.
This is my first blog ever and I have never visited a blog before. The closest I have become to blogging is Facebook. I am excited to learn more things in regards to blogging and hope that my page keeps everyone on their toes. I hope you all enjoy this class and my posts!!
